OUR SUPPLIERS

We are convinced that favoring local products in our store is part of a sustainable living, favorable for the development of the local economy, the consumers and the planet's health. That's why the majority of our suppliers are located in Dalarna, where most of them create their own products using local resources. There's two exceptions: Italian products (Mattias' achilles heel), whose southern flavours are always appreciates in a good meal, and Japanese teas (A passion for Flore), whose sweetness and subtle flavours is still has little presence in Europe. In those cases we pay special attention to the quality of the products. If they're not local they're at least ethical and delicious!

BREAD AND FLOUR

LEKSAND KNÄCKEBRÖD

Everything begun 1929, when Anna and her husband Jon Olof (Jon-Olle) Olsson started a pan bread bakery together. The secret to crisp bread was alread present in Anna's family since two generations past. 1942 Jon Olof handed over the leadership to one of their five children, Martin. Who changed the name of the company from J.O Olssons Spisbrödsbageri to Leksands Knäckebröd. They then expanded with a mill, new bakery lines and new products.

In 2003 Peter Joon takes over the company. He represents the seventh generation to take over. New products are still being developed afer the baker's will to create and follow the market de Nya produkter utvecklas fortfarande, enligt bagarnasvilja att skapa och följa marknadens efterfrågan (crisp bread pizza, baker's best, ecological bread...).

Leksands Knäckebröd only uses Swedish grains. Rye, which is the core ingredient in most crisp bread, have traveled at most 34 mile. All other grain are grown as close as possible for short transports and the least environmental impact while supporting local farmers.

Crisp bread is made with out any production additives..

As an old classmate with Peter of course we should have a shelf dedicated to his company's products in our garden store.
